Our story

Our organization's history unfolds the inspiring narrative of D'Neeko Thompson. 

D'Neeko was born with a chromosome 13 abnormality—a condition marked by the absence of the 13th chromosome. This condition, manifested as developmental delays, intellectual challenges, and physical anomalies. As with other families all over the world, met with similar factors D'Neeko's caregivers searched for support, resources and experienced difficulties in their planning to create a future where D'Neeko could not only survive but truly thrive. 

This story mirrors the daily struggles shared by caregivers and individuals with special needs across the Houston area. 

U'Neek & Gifted emerged organically, a response to the unmet needs they experienced within the community.

 D'Neeko's story has become a beacon of inspiration, embodying love, untapped potential, and the yearning for a world that transcends current limitations. It's a journey toward creating a world where every person, regardless of ability, discovers their unique gifts, contributing vibrancy to the mosaic of our shared human experience.

A world where he, and others like him, can experience safety, stimulation, and caregivers can find refuge in a supportive, secure, and engaging environment.
